Hello, I have been married to a wonderful man (Gene Moon) for 27 years and together for 30. I am a mother of 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys. We also have twelve grandchildren.
I started my nursing journey when I was 14 years old. I volunteered at a nursing home and won teenage volunteer of the year for the State of Illinois. I went on to work as a volunteer in the ER in Honolulu, Hawaii . When I returned to the States I got my CNA Certificate. I worked in nursing homes and hospitals. I became a CPR instructor and worked on the fire department as a First Responder. I then got a job at Pana Community Hospital where I decided to go to school and get my LPN License. I stayed at the hospital for 7 years working in all areas, including ER, surgery, the floor and the clinics. I left the hospital and worked in memory care for two years. I then took the job as Nurse here at Hickory Estates of Taylorville where I have worked for the past five years.
When the position of Manager came open, I decided to take it along with the nursing position. I have a great passion for my residents here at Hickory. They are part of my family, every one of them. My goal is to keep them as independent as possible for as long as possible. I want them to live here and always know they will be safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
